Yes! Vessl is completely free to download and use. There are no ads, no in-app purchases, and no hidden fees. We believe Scripture memorization should be accessible to everyone.
Each verse goes through five progressive steps: (1) Read the verse carefully, (2) Spot Check — identify it from options, (3) Fill In — recall blanked-out words, (4) First Letters — use first-letter hints to rebuild the verse, (5) Reference — match the verse to its reference. Each step removes more support, building genuine recall.
Vessl currently supports the King James Version (KJV) and the World English Bible (WEB). Both are public domain translations. You can switch between them at any time in Settings.
Your streak counts the number of consecutive days you've completed at least one practice session. If you miss a day, a streak freeze is automatically used (if available) to protect your streak. You can hold up to 2 streak freezes at a time.
Yes. Go to Settings and tap "Reset Progress" to clear all your memorization data and start fresh. This action cannot be undone.
Go to Settings and tap "Delete Account." This permanently removes your account and all associated data from our servers. Local data on your device will also be cleared.
Yes! All verse content and your progress are stored locally on your device. You only need an internet connection for the leaderboard and initial sign-in. You can practice anywhere, anytime.
Absolutely. We don't use advertising trackers, we don't sell your data, and we don't profile you. Your progress is stored locally on your device. Only leaderboard data is synced to the cloud, protected by row-level security. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
